mostly research stuff
interesting issue, huh? …but i’m not actually talking about little nippers cheating in school with elGoog…this is about elGoog’s http://www.google.com/help/cheatsheet.html" target="_blank">new cheat sheet…and what’s disturbing me is this little factoid: a stellar internet researcher named shally steckerl, who has worked on contract for every giant from coke and intel to (sound of drumroll) elGoog has long published a wildly popular “google cheat sheet” on his jobmachine.net web site for the paltry sum of like 9 bucks…i have heard from an ultra-wicked-reliable source (aka ‘UWR‘ - a bush administration term) that shally actually discussed his cheat sheet with some engineers and other folks while under a contract with elGoog, and then presto (!), up pops this cheat sheet from elGoog - with no credit to mr. steckerl (please don’t be the millionth person to confuse shally with a woman, thanks)….what the shit?
yeah, so now add to elGoog’s cheat sheet their one-pager on ‘advanced operators‘ within google and you’ve got your basic ‘advanced‘ cheatsheet…
…according to tara of the textually-sexy researchbuzz.com site, it’s still missing quite a few items - read about a few in her newsletter, in which she added:
daterange: — Allows specific Julian-date searching (instead of last 3,6, or 12 months)
stocks: — Provides pointers to stock information (stocks:goog)
phonebook:, bphonebook:, rphonebook: — Phone book lookups.
cache: — Displays the cache for a given page (cache:http://www.resourceshelf.com )
BUT (!) in my opinion, if you really want to understand the cheats and operators, and learn NEW ones, keep your eyes on the elGoog API page for developers, which contains a few relevant sections (such as “special query language” which examines extended date restrictions, language restrictions etc) …and you can also follow discussion of the google api(s) if you’re really interested in building your world around elGoog (i’m not, thank you)
this blog is mostly safe for work, though i sometimes throw around a 'fuck' or two. you'll find a bunch of my articles from CI Magazine, SCIP online, other research pieces and some other crap. enjoy. there's lost of content here related to getting information about, around, from and through people and organizations...
