working title was, “…but it’s still worth paying for folks.”…okay, gotta warn you that by the time you read this little zoominfo.com hack, they might have closed the door! but i hope not…if you’re like ‘what the shit? zoom what? i thought that you only picked on elGoog at this blog,’ then please read on…

okay, so you know how if you look up a name at zoominfo (fka eliyon), they limit you to the first 100 results, and then they make you tab through the results slowly, page by page, 10 or so at a time? wouldn’t it be nice if you could just put in a name and then look at a huge list of everybody in that name group from their directory, just see the name (full name, last name first) and the company name - with a live link to the zoominfo record?

…or how about just seeing everything in the entire zoominfo database?

well it’s easy to do this, and you’ll get way farther into those records (by number count) than the 100 record cap from the free search - and yes, you can still do it all for free…

for a list of people by specific name: how? visit a search engine and search for the name you seek within the zoominfo.com/directory domain (be sure to include that backslash!)...this will shortcut to the directory listing page which feeds the database records that you would normally view from their own search engine - but when you do it from outside the site, you’ll be taken to this much more useful page…for example, do a search for (bailey site:zoominfo.com/directory) and you’ll come to several pages, including: zoominfo.com/Directory/default.asp?page_id=384. now just take that “384” at the end and start typing in 381, 382, 383, 385, and so on and you’ll see that you’ve actually begun to view every “bailey” in the entire system, sorted neatly by first name….great for those of you not interested in paying for such a service ;)

…but the real killer shorcut, cut and paste this url (or click): zoominfo.com/Directory/default.asp?page_id=1 - that is the first page of their alphabetical grouping structure….change that ‘1‘ at the end to ‘2‘ and you’ll be taking to the next big listing page, each individual link on those two ‘low digits’ represents a sub-page within the directory grouping hundreds (to thousands) of names in the database for the last names starting with ‘A‘ or ‘B‘ - anybody know where to find the rest of the alphabet?
