if you work in competitive intelligence and wanna understand how this industry and the players have evolved over the past 20 years since the founding of scip (the society of competitive intelligence professionals) in ‘85, which is way back when people actually still cared about mickey rourke, then you’ve got two choices: take a “state of the art in ci” survey from the scip foundation, earn money for your time and get a summary of all results OR continue to shoot in the dark and follow an expected path, understanding little, relentlessly posturing for clients and eventually crying yourself to sleep to stuff like “radio flyer” (well, okay, that movie still makes me cry…which makes me sensi-man)…

..but here’s the point (yeah, there’s a point) - if you’re not a member of scip already and would like to check out what it’s all about, then just answer all questions, include your name and email in the survey and you’ll get 100 bucks to spend on chapter or regional events (there are many scip chapters to investigate), then you’ll get to meet people who do this for a living (there are kathousands of scip members)…or if you’re a member already, then damn (!), you owe it to your association peers to share insights so that we can all move forward together (everybody hold hands now…sigh), and you still get the 100 bucks (for european members, please note that those are american dollars…)

the survey will be online until june first, but you should click-on-through and take it today while it’s in your mind…go now, right now…

from scip: “We invite all CI practitioners to take the Competitive Intelligence Foundations latest survey, State of the Art: Competitive Intelligence. We all work in a wide variety of environments where change is a constant this study will chart the progress of the competitive intelligence field and help us develop a better understanding of where we are and where we are going.
