okay, there are just sooo many sites that offer these “multiple interfaces” to search engines that i sometimes get a bit ill (not ‘meta search’ engines, i mean ‘one box for entry’ with results displayed for each engine)….and since elGoog has become (sadly) the benchmark for many of these comparison sites, i thought it would be nice to do a quick round-up of a few particularly new and interesting ones for whoever reads this mofo…but remember: always be careful when using elGoog!!!

YagooHoogle: just like it sounds, enter your search term and the results screen splits in two with elGoog on the right and yahoo on the left (but you gotta re-enter your query…duh…this is kinda like opening a new tab - but it saves your lazy ass a click)…compare and save! buy now! since apparently these two are being accused of collusion for click-through keyword advertising, this interface makes even more sense! …you can find another yahoo versus elGoog site with a very basic interface elsewhere too (requires javascript)

msn search from microsoft versus elGoog…personally, i see better results from msn every time, but maybe it’s just me…and no worries here, since i don’t think ms will ever get into bed with elGoog (phew!…wiping my brow)…thanks to gretchen and zoe for turning me on to this one…btw, want a good laugh??? type “sergie brin” into the box and msn says, “did you mean sergio?” while elGoog offers another incorrect spelling (sergei) for their own founder with crap results…then type in “billy gates” and msn just *knows* what you mean, while elGoog still offers a correction choice with top results chock full-o-crap…

teoma versus elGoog…honestly, is elGoog the only thing to compare to? gets tired…

what else? well, okay, this one’s not a pure comparison site like the others, but the founder of this company turboscout keeps emailing me to tell me how cool the site is - and it is pretty slick…enter your query and click search (default is elGoog…surprised?)…your text appears again up top and you can select very, very quickly from 23 other engines to compare results (in firefox, just open a new tab if you’d like)…

…and if you just wanna compare elGoog to ANY other search engine out there, o’reilly offers the code to hack the interface and display the results at their uber-informative site…

Some similar nonsense, if you like that kind of thing:
