ever heard of this firm pretrieve? …for the very serious public records consumers out there, consider this new tool to be like the bob’s big boy for information gourmands…i’ve yet to see anything like it for public records metasearch, and i’ve seen a lotta tries - but most cost a lotta money…pretrieve does not charge money (they make money through their business solutions), and so it’s open to every tom, dick and jane with a machine and a modem…the company is run by a guy named paul bunting who sent me a rather informative intro to his firm that blows away the “about” page blather…

from paul, “Pretrieve is a public record search engine designed to help make finding and researching public record information from free sites on the internet faster and easier for everyone. Pretrieve is a Deep Web search engine, not a web crawler. Our engine is designed to query third party databases on the users’ behalf to retrieve specific information related to the business, person, or address they are researching…We are still a small technology start up, but we are focused on growing our library of valuable search links as rapidly as financially possible. We feel that free web based public records is a valuable information resource that most researchers and consumers fail to take advantage of because it takes too long or they simply can’t find them…Our users are a diverse bunch that includes legal researchers, journalists, librarians, investigators, mortgage & title companies, real estate professionals, health care companies, and our most recent addition: online daters ! It seems that those tech savvy daters out there prefer “Pretrieving” someone to “Googling” someone because of the depth of information.

all i can say is this: go to the site, and click on the “advanced search” page and take a look at what you can do from the results page…but what did I DO?? well, i “pretrieved pretrieve” if you will, if you must..if you shall…first stop: network solution’s whois database, where i quickly tagged the company as ‘in georgia’ (full address there, plus a note that the site was created on 9/25/03)…then i went back to pretrieve.com, where i learned that paul filed pretrieve as a georgia limited liability company on 2/23/04 and is in compliance on llc registrations, there appear to be no impending patents (though the us pto site is kinda weak), not much else…well, actually, i got sidetracked - i looked up a very well known competitive intelligence consulting firm on pretrieve (won’t say the name, but you might guess), and i found some outstanding ucc filings which corroborate past insolvency rumors and bingo (ouch) - a host of complaints via the bbb…yikes! forget pretrieving my dates, i’m having much more fun digging up dirt on competitors…

Some similar nonsense, if you like that kind of thing:
