okay, just when netsnippets finally introduces a free basic version of their software that kills (in my opinion) every alternative, i stumble across the recent (like a few days ago recent) release of the updated scrapbook extension (version 0.13.4) for firefox users…

scrapbook’s gotta lotta very ‘netsnippety’ features and goals, though it’s much lighter fare, and only works on firefox…which is kinda like making a pen for only people lacking opposable thumbs (oh, don’t get your panties in a bunch about that…peace out to the mozillytes)…but minority appeal aside, it’s a solid release…i’m not going to go off the deep end here because i’m putting together a larger piece for this site regarding several researchy firefox extensions…but here’s what you should know right away:

- lets you capture a copy of a web page (entire page or just portions), including linked pages (but in perfect working order, won’t look like crap)
- capture specific frames (who even uses frames anymore - what the shit?)
- lets you also capture pdf, flash, xml or other crap that’s in the browser
- has a nifty little sidebar for sorting and managing, and you can also drag stuff right into this sidebar to speed up information-storing efforts
- regarding comment above, a way to store just one picture or image is to click on it and drag to the sidebar (this is useful whether you work in business or you’re just interested in stealing copyrighted material…which is actually what most people in business do anyways…)
- lots of tools for reviewing, editing and managing the info you’ve gathered…including details on file size (in case you’ve still got copies of that paris hilton video on your machine)
- no adware or spyware (to speak of)
- creator doesn’t make arrogant comments about street children in cambodia!

Some similar nonsense, if you like that kind of thing:
