mostly research stuff
now here’s an interesting variation on a theme, like a free lunch business card fishbowl on steroids…if you’re down on online social networking sites (aren’t we all?) and would rather just have the contacts you want with the contact information you need instantly, because you’re an american, and we americans invented impulse shopping, then take a look at jigsaw…they’ve raised about 5 million bucks, so they should be around until at least this summer…basic idea: they’ve got a growing database of fresh contact information for almost 300 thousand people at over 30 thousand companies and you can have any or all of it by doing just one of two things: give ‘em more contacts or give ‘em your money…
it’s that simple…no more forwarding requests that read like, “hi, i’d desperately like to reach this person i’ve only heard of but don’t actually know and it appears that we’re separated by only your chair-hugging ass, so please forward my ingratiating message along - before you take your next bite of that microwaved snack, thanks“…you simply submit one contact and you get two in return (count ‘em, two)…or you can buy what you want for a buck per name…
…note that all contacts are submitted by users, and users rate the overall quality of others with a host of feedback and rating mechanisms (read: don’t try to cheat their system)…all contacts come with name, title, direct or office phone and personal email along with snail mail address (most of the time)…basically they’re business cards, you’ll have to go to another site (think free version of eliyon) to get the biographical information)…and a note to other CI consultants: one big plus for source identification purposes is that the vast majority are managerial or senior staff, non-executive types…
this blog is mostly safe for work, though i sometimes throw around a 'fuck' or two. you'll find a bunch of my articles from CI Magazine, SCIP online, other research pieces and some other crap. enjoy. there's lost of content here related to getting information about, around, from and through people and organizations...
