mostly research stuff
okay, i got an alert earlier about new vulnerabilities within php (the programming language) that are being used by hackers to exploit and destroy sites running phpbb (php bulletin boards is an excellent open source application which is used to run the passingnotes.com forums!)…until this is all resolved (patches, upgrades etc), the passingnotes boards are gonna be offline, sorry (but what the shit? everybody’s on vacation anyways…)…you can read the technical blurb at phpbb’s own site…
as for the google comment, well, here’s how cnet news puts it: “A new worm, Santy.A, exploits recently announced flaws in PHP (PHP Hypertext Preprocessing) to target websites using phpBB (PHP Bulletin Board), using Google to find vulnerable sites. The worm has infected nearly 40,000 websites; the infection defaces webpages, but do not seem to harm users who visit the infected webpages. The worm deletes all HTML (hypertext markup language), PHP, ASP (active server pages), and JSP (Java server pages) files, and replaces them with text announcing the infection and the generation of the worm since seeding; so far the worm is in it’s twenty-fourth generation. Google has not commented on the worm except to say it is studying the issue, frustrating antivirus researchers who say Google can block the worm’s searches.”
studying the issue? hey, elGoog, study this (points to crotch), you pretentious techno-arrivistes…
this blog is mostly safe for work, though i sometimes throw around a 'fuck' or two. you'll find a bunch of my articles from CI Magazine, SCIP online, other research pieces and some other crap. enjoy. there's lost of content here related to getting information about, around, from and through people and organizations...

no idea, pw cracking ain’t my thing…never deal with online sources that i want that badly, and don’t even wanna go there with the world of hacking…if you’re into it for, uh, academic purposes, then you might want to search the research guide for a web site called, “i’m johnny and i hack stuff” (not sure if it will help, but seems like it’s more his thing…)
