mostly research stuff
okay, here’s some bilious news for bain and co (you know, the big strategy firm that’s gets its freak on for the fortune 500): they were taken for a ride by their own corporate librarian…got turned on to this by resourceshelf and then read the full article at the office of the massachusetts attorney general…
here’s the skinny: “A former senior research librarian at Bain & Company (Bain), has been indicted on charges she allegedly embezzled more than $800,000 from the Boston office of the business consulting firm…”…her name is jodie walsh, 31 years old…”In 1995, Walsh was hired to work as a research librarian in the Boston office of Bain …As part of her responsibilities, Walsh ordered publications and other documents for the library to be used by Bain employees….over the course of six years beginning in 1997, Walsh used her position as research librarian to steal more than $800,000. In each of three schemes, Walsh allegedly created phony invoices for research reports that she claimed she had paid for using her own money. She then allegedly requested to be reimbursed by Bain using those false invoices and forging employees’ signatures. In a fourth scheme, Walsh allegedly created phony invoices for research reports and requested that checks be sent to the phony publisher at a post office box. Allegedly, the post office box was leased by Walsh.”
uh, maybe if they paid more for their non-consulting positions, this kinda stuff wouldn’t happen…but then again, as springsteen said, “i guess there’s just a meanness in this world“
