every party has a pooper, that’s why they invite a trooper…party pooper… party pooper

…looks like elGoog just killed X1 (a mercy kill?)…anybody notice this quiet launch of the google desktop search beta from elGoog? nifty digital oblation, though it’s a bit slim on features - but wait (!!), i take that back, it actually does about as much as a whole buncha other companies fighting to suckle one of the few available nipples of ‘mother-mainstream-computing-market’…including that dog from bill gross…and all for free (excluding emotional expenses)…oh - for that matter, did anybody notice the quiet launch of the google-by-sms beta either? a lot going on this week for elGoog, the wal-mart of the internet (in more ways than one, baby… being elGoog-cool hurts, just ask brian reid)

their help and faq’s will warn you that indexing can take “a long time” (they suggest going to bed and then coming back some other day)…and if it’s it as slow as their sms offering (says, “give it a minute” and it was more like 2 hours, no shit, which is fine… if you’re on asshole-time)…but spooky timing, huh? apple is close to an overhaul, and microsoft already offers heavy search through outlook via their lookout acquisition …

so the point? well, for now this offering from elGoog searches only outlook, word, excel, powerpoint, text files, internet explorer history files and most titles of other non-compressed files…but you know what’s really strange? they index the content of temporary folders? why? to teach commercial improvidence? i’m starting to worry about this future monopoly, okay - is that crazy? … maybe i’m just still pissed because i could have watched all of willow during the time it took to get that reply to my ‘elGoog-by-sms’ test query…

Some similar nonsense, if you like that kind of thing:
