mostly research stuff
now here’s an interesting item to toy with while you (hold your breath) waiting for the disposable email market to take off…a little web site has popped up called dodgeit - similar to mailinator and mytrashmail (see earlier article on mytrashmail ) - but with a twist: you log in once to get the xml for an rss feed from your inbox and then check your email through your rss reader (or the old fashioned way if you will, if you must, if you shall)…that’s convenience baby…and ‘@dodgeit.com’ sounds much better than ‘@mytrashmail.com’ …also, for the time being, email sits in that box forever, so again, don’t use shitty, simple fake names…
…is this tiny shop the first to score in the world of checking email via rss? hmmm…super famous ray ozzie is apparently thinking about it already (wake up call…hello money people…hello?)
this is a take on growing interest in email-to-rss conversions…for more on that, you might want to check out the email2rss project being led by a guy named ‘tony’ - or the rssmail project by bursey…or mailbucket - the email-to-rss public gateway (much more on this at the mailbucket blog)…
…but if you can receive email via rss, and news via rss, but can also get your news and blog updates via email, then what exactly is the point? this feels an awful lot like another cool invention in search of a market that hasn’t yet been defined (ouch)….email or rss? you choose…but i’ll be damned if it doesn’t hurt just like having to choose between mary-kate and ashley…
this blog is mostly safe for work, though i sometimes throw around a 'fuck' or two. you'll find a bunch of my articles from CI Magazine, SCIP online, other research pieces and some other crap. enjoy. there's lost of content here related to getting information about, around, from and through people and organizations...
