mostly research stuff
when i read this excerpt from the IBM white paper about media and entertainment in 2010, i was gonna hurl…(pulled by len witt of the public journalism network) - “The future will see more open, reciprocal relationships and more ways to interact and customize at every point of the media value loop – among brands, creators, suppliers, distributors, delivery systems, customers and “experiencersâ€? of media content.” yeah, okay, aside from the made up word (experiencers?), what the hell is a value loop? does that mean that crap will cost a lot and then cost nothing, becoming actual crap once again (think janet jackson ticket prices) …is this just ibm recycling the concept of hypermediation (another gross word)?
who even cares- since it can only happen by 2010 if we understand whatever the hell it is they’re saying is going to happen … when huge groups of people compile information, then YES, it is great for research, but it’s also called being a ‘packrat’ …in fact, just save this file from ibm and rename ‘digital packrats white paper,’ print it out, and use it to line your bird cage.
this blog is mostly safe for work, though i sometimes throw around a 'fuck' or two. you'll find a bunch of my articles from CI Magazine, SCIP online, other research pieces and some other crap. enjoy. there's lost of content here related to getting information about, around, from and through people and organizations...
